Home Text Box: Hotels:   Soulton Hall, near Wem, Shropshire, SD4 5RS. This is a large house dating in part to the 14th Century in the middle of the countryside. It’s only a couple of miles away from Acton Reynald. Prices range from about £37-£50 pppn.   The Lion Hotel is in Wyle Cop in the centre of Shrewsbury (SY1 1UY) and dates from the early 17th Century. Charles Darwin apparently stayed there on August 12th 1858 and described his accommodation as “the strangest little rooms”. I think rooms are about £50pppn.   The Lion and Pheasant is also on Wyle Cop in Shrewsbury (SY1 1XJ) and dates to the 16th century. The rooms are a bit cheaper that The Lion Hotel at £60 per double or twin B&B. they also have a family room including 1 double and 2 single beds. Tel: 01743 236288.   The Lord Hill Hotel is on Abbey Foregate just outside the centre of Shrewsbury (SY2 6AX). Relatively large and relatively modern. Tel 01743 232601. Website is www.lordhill.u-net.com. Prices are about £62 for a twin or double for just the room, and £77 B&B.
